The origin of Stencils

The field of painting in the historic period used various techniques and methods to achieve perfection. Stencil paintings were common throughout the period for the purpose of painting and coloring the cloth for a very long time.

Back in the days the human hand was used to craft designs on a painting using different colors. Due to the inquisitive nature of the human mind and the monotony created by the same designs, a thin sheet of material which had letters or a design cut out from it was shaped.

The first set of stencils was manufactured from an extremely thin material such as a sheet of paper which was not able to render the stencils, the durability attribute. In order to overcome this challenge the usage of plastic and metal was introduced.

The introduction of the stencils made out of a thin sheet of plastic or a metal gave the durability factor along with the ease of usage to various artists using it. The key advantage of the stencil which boosted its popularity and usage was the fact that it could be re-used unlike the ones made out of paper. They could be used to create designs repeatedly and rapidly. For more information email us to info@potato-gun-plans.com.
